Structured as il negativo (the negative) of a classical concerto with Lento movements that both precede and follow the Allegro. The piece is a synthesis of ostinatos typical of American minimalism, mitigated by the lyric intensity of melodic phrasing that recalls ancient Sicilian culture through the use of scales, figures and intervals of Arabian tastes.
