Caravaggio per sopranista, violoncello ed electronics
Ballets - 01:00:00
Commissioned by the Ballet Theater of Turin, the work takes off from essential musical fragments reproduced in several paintings by Caravaggio. It serves as a musical and visual ballet commentary on the violent and contested existence of the great Italian painter. For this work Sollima called on the craftsman Walter Angiatosi to reconstruct a tenor violin, a rare instrument present in the artist's paintings. It was premiered at the Festival Internazionale del Balletto in Genoa. The principle themes of the work are featured on the CD Works published by Sony.
