
Leonardo Moretti is a violinist, pianist and composer whose musical talent emerged at an early age. Initially recognized as a piano prodigy, he later pursued violin studies, obtaining his pre-academic diploma at the age of fifteen and subsequently completing his academic studies at the Conservatory of Milan.
He furthered his musical education at leading Italian and international institutions, studying with distinguished musicians including Boris Belkin, Ana Chumachenco, Pavel Vernikov, Viktor Tret’jakov and Azio Corghi. Alongside his instrumental training, he developed interests in musicology, composition and improvisation.
Winner of numerous national and international competitions, including the Claudio Abbado Prize and the International Franz Schubert Competition, he has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the United States. Highlights of his career include appearances at Carnegie Hall in New York and institutional performances in the presence of the Presidents of the Italian Republic and the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping.
Over the course of his career, he has collaborated with internationally renowned conductors, pianists and musicians, including Daniele Gatti, Gianandrea Noseda, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Kurt Masur, Bruno Canino, Andrea Bacchetti and Eric Chumachenco.
Particularly active in the fields of improvisation and interdisciplinary musical dialogue, he has developed artistic collaborations with leading figures of contemporary musical culture, among them Enrico Intra.
In addition to his performing activities, he collaborates with universities, foundations and cultural institutions in educational and outreach projects. He performs on a seventeenth-century violin entrusted to him by the Fondazione Monzino.
