Nicola Campogrande was born in Turin in 1969 and graduated at the Conservatoires of Milan and Paris.
He is fascinated by musical theatre, and he likes writing music for the stage.
As a composer and a critic, he is a lover of the great classical tradition, but in his music he likes bringing together jazz and song, speaking voices and South American rhythms, the breakthroughs of the avant-gardes of the past and the formal structures of tradition.
He writes for "La Repubblica", "Musica! Rock & altro", "PianoTime" and "Indice". He works as a presenter for RAI Radio Tre.
In Spring 2002 his chamber opera Alianti was staged in Italy, Holland and England.
