Born in Macerata in 1963, Carlo Boccadoro studied at the G. Verdi Conservatory, Milan, where he took diplomas in Piano and Percussion instruments. There he took additional courses in Composition with Paolo Arata, Bruno Cerchio, Ivan Fedele and Marco Tutino.
Since 1990 his music has been performed in all the most important Italian concert seasons (Teatro alla Scala and Piccolo Teatro in Milan; Biennale of Venice; Teatro Filarmonico in Verona; Teatro Regio and Settembre Musica in Turin; Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa; Teatro Comunale in Bologna; Ferrara Musica; Teatro Regio in Parma; Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence; Accademia Filarmonica Romana in Rome; Teatro Massimo in Palermo; Festival del Jazz in Sassari, etc.) and has been performed by, among others, soloists such as Bruno Canino, Alessandro Carbonare, Gianni Coscia, Enrico Dindo, Andrea Griminelli, Andrea Lucchesini, Mario Marzi, Fabrizio Meloni, Stefano Montanari, Danilo Perez, Danilo Rossi, Emanuele Segre, Giovanni Sollima, Gianluigi Trovesi; conductors such as Philippe Auguin, Antonio Ballista, Martyn Brabbins, Mario Brunello, Bruno Campanella, Othmar Maga, Jerzy Maksymiuk; ensembles such as Il Quartetto Borciani, Il Quintetto Bibiena, I Solisti della Scala, Il Trio Italiano; singers such as Maria Pia De Vito, Vincenzo La Scola, Moni Ovadia, Katia Ricciarelli.
For the stage, Boccadoro has composed the ballet Games (Teatro alla Scala, choreography by Fabrizio Monteverde) and three operas with texts by Dario Oliveri: A qualcuno piace tango (commissioned by the Teatro Regio in Turin and subsequently performed in Palermo, Narni, and Milano), Rimini Addio! (commissioned by the Arena di Verona) and La Donna nel quadro (recently performed at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo). His works have been performed worldwide in France, Spain, Germany, Holland (Concertgebouw, Amsterdam), England, Scotland (Royal Academy, Glasgow), Turkey, the United States, and Japan.
He is among the founders of the cultural project “Sentieri Selvaggi”, dedicated to the diffusion of the music of today, and which includes an instrumental Ensemble and a Festival which has for some years been obtaining encouraging success.
