"Molly degli aviatori" is the first production of the ‘Officina Giovane Opera Italiana’, a workshop led by composer Vincenzo Palermo for young composers, instrumentalists and singers, which aims to encourage the production and staging of a new opera in Italy.
Sponsored by the Teatro della Ginestra, a residence theater of Calabria, directed by Dante De Rose, and in collaboration with the Conservatory "S.Giacomantonio" of Cosenza, availed itself of the extraordinary participation of the composer Giampaolo Testoni, which, during a master class on the composition for the music scene, wanted to give his contribution embellishing the score with his cameo, an "Intermezzo Dance", which incorporates the main themes of the work: in one act and in closed form, the individual songs that form were composed by young composers workshop, Marco Gatti, Tommaso Greco, Luigi Maletta, Alessandro Papaianni and Rodolfo Saraco.
The libretto, loosely based on the novel by W. Faulkner, has been prepared by Marco Gatti, already emerging young author known for his collections of poetry and literary essays. He is also committed to conducting the Ensemble Synapsis, while the direction of the homonymous children's choir and male is entrusted to Alexandra Rudakova.
The singers are for the protagonist Molly, Francesca Gerbasi, soprano "falcon" who covers the original texture of mezzo-soprano enriched with special variants acute dedicated to her particular register, and soprano Sabrina Zumpano who plays both roles "en-travesti" of the pilot Roger and the journalist Donald. The actor Francesco embodies the character of the mechanic Jiggs, in constant interaction with the roles sung by intense melodramas and recitatives always supported by a constant harmonic tissue.
The interlude of dancing is interpreted by the dancers ADAC, Academy for the Arts Choreographic of Calabria, choreography by Antonella Ciappetta, while the organizational direction by Renato Costabile. The opera is directed by Dante De Rose.
The first show is staged on the day October 19, 2012 at the Teatro San Fili Gambaro (Cosenza) at 20:30, with a repeat the following day at 18:30.
