Held during the event 'Cellolandia' at the Ravenna Festival

The 100 Cellos, born in 2012 from an idea of Giovanni Sollima and Enrico Melozzi under the aegis of Casa Musicale Sonzogno, have combined originality and quality turning every corner of the capital of Emilia in a meeting point for young talents and experienced masters.

The talent of the cellists has been protagonist with ‘In clausura’, contest now at its third edition directed to young composers. To the winner: publication of the work with the Casa Musicale Sonzogno Milan and SIAE plaque, in recognition for creativity in the new Italian music scene.

The first prize was awarded to Alexis Pianelli for his " Tanzen Wir" composition unanimously appreciated for the high quality of writing by the jury composed by Cristina Mazzavillani Muti, Miguel Angel Berna, Mario Brunello, Sandro Cappelletto, Piero Ostali and Franco Piersanti.

The piece of Pianelli, as well as those of the other seven finalists - Sophia Avramidou, Marilena Licata, Emilio Mottola, Stefano Ottomano, Salvatore Passantino, Emanuele Pontoni and Michele Sarti - was written in a night "in seclusion" in the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna . An experience similar to the one lived by Gioachino Rossini when the managerof  the Teatro Valle in Rome had him locked up in the theater to force him to conclude "La Cenerentola" (hence the idea of Giovanni Sollima and Enrico Melozzi and the contest name).
