02.9-10.2018: GIOVANNI SOLLIMA in PALERMO with 'THE N-ICE CELLO CONCERT'

at the Politeama Garibaldi in Palermo

On Friday February 9th  at 9.00 pm and Saturday February 10th at 5.30 pm at the Politeama Garibaldi in Palermo, during the season of the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra, Sollima will perform in the world premiere a piece for ice-cello and orchestra, entitled "The N-Ice Cello Concert ".

This performance forms part of a project conceived by the musician and musical manager Corrado Bungaro, who in 2007 invited Giovanni to the Val Senales glacier to perform in an igloo theater with an ice cello, built by luthier-sculptor Tim Linhard.

The idea is taken up in 2018 with the production of a "road docufilm" in collaboration with the Muse Museum designed by Renzo Piano in Trento: it will start again from the Alps, where the Ice Cello will be recreated, to reach the Politeama in Palermo, passing through the Muse, the Island of San Giorgio in Venice and Rome, and everything will be documented in a film directed by Bungaro himself.

In program also the "Concerto n. 2 in D major for cello and orchestra "by Joseph Haydn and" Cello Konzert "by Friedrich Gulda, which of course Sollima will play with his" Francesco Ruggeri ", realized in Cremona in 1679.
