Bio

Carlo Galante (Trento, 1959) graduated in composition under the guidance of Niccolò Castiglioni and Paolo Castaldi, at the Milan Conservatory. In 1993 he wrote the "Dies Irae" of the Requiem per le Vittime della Mafia, in the Cathedral of Palermo.

 

He has written for the theater the works "Byzanthium" (Musica nel Nostro Tempo, 1991); "Corradino" (Teatro Comunale of Bologna, 1992); "Il combattimento con l’Angelo" (Teatro Massimo of Palermo, 1997); "Messer Lievesogno e la Porta Chiusa" repeatedly represented (Teatro Comunale in Bologna 1997; Teatro Palazzina Liberty, Milan 1998, the Teatro Nuovo in Verona and Teatro Sociale di Trento, 2000); "Ghost Café" (Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, 2000 Teatro della Tosse in Genoa 2008); "A Christmas Tale" (Teatro Comunale in Modena, 2002) and the ballets: "Fandango" Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, 1992); "Il fantasma di Canterville" (Teatro Regio in Turin, 1995 and repeated several times); "Notturno a Milano" (Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, 2004), "The Tempest" (Teatro Carignano in Turin, 2006), "Zaide o la chiave dell’illusione" (Fossano, Castello d’Acaja, 2007), "I Promessi Sposi" (Teatro del fuoco di Foggia e Casa Manzoni, Milan, 2009).

 

He wrote a lot of symphonic and chamber music performed in prestigious venues such as La Scala in Milan, Fondazione Santa Cecilia in Rome, Fondazione Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Rai in Rome and Naples etc. He has made recordings and published cd. After performing  "Le lacrime di Geremia" at MiTo 2014 and the monographic concert dedicated to him from Sentieri Selvaggi (again in 2014) had a great success in February 2015 with "The food of love", commissioned by the the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala
