SEGATTA Nicola

Bio

Nicola Segatta is a composer, cellist, luthier and author. As a cellist he trained with Enrico Bronzi, Rocco Filippini, Marco Decimo and Giovanni Sollima.


Self-taught composer, he has been performing his own music since 2011 with La Piccola Orchestra Lumière, a kaleidoscopic ensemble for which, alongside pure music, he has written soundtracks for silent cinema, radio plays, music for theater and dance. He has been working since 2010 as an impromptu composer of incidental music for the theater workshops of director Marco Alotto in Italy and France.


With Giovanni Sollima and La Piccola Orchestra Lumière he published the album Shakespeare for Dreamers (SquiLibri - Visage, 2017) and for Quadrivium by EGEA the opera Ikone (Quadrivium - SquiLibri, 2020) and the Byzantine Concerto for cello and orchestra (Quadrivium/Sonzogno, 2020).


He has worked as assistant to the American artist Tim Linhart in the construction of ice instruments. Graduated as a luthier in Cremona, he dedicated himself to the manufacture of cellos. He plays an instrument of his own making.
