PASSANTINO Salvatore

(Palermo, 1992)

Bio

Salvatore Passantino graduated in composition at the Conservatory of Palermo, with honors and mention.

 

The Teatro Massimo in Palermo commissioned him the operas Haus and Minuscolo. On the occasion of Settimane di Nuove Musiche held at the Teatro Massimo, Octacordon (2016), Séirenes (2017) and Wave (2018) were performed.

 

He took part in the International Rostrum of Composers 2017, held at the Bozar in Brussels. On commission of Amici della musica, he composed Il Tedeschino. He won two 1st prizes at the Mandanici Competition 2016 and at the Arteinsieme Competition 2017.

 

In May 2017 he won the 4th Competition In Clausura, organized by the Società Italiana del Violoncello and Casa Musicale Sonzogno, with the piece Devil's House, contained in the 100Cellos cd released in 2018.

 

On the same occasion he obtained an award from the SIAE as "[...] Recognition for a young talent in the panorama of new Italian music". The Mayor of Palermo, Leoluca Orlando, rewards his activity by giving him the Tessera Preziosa. He won the 1st prizes at the A.Basevi Competition 2019 for strings quartet, and at the V. Amato choral composition competition 2019.
