Bio

Andrés Rodrigo López is an Italian cellist and conductor, He started studying cello at a very young age under the guidance of Giuseppe Martorana.

 

After specialising under the guidance of Amedeo Baldovino he studied chamber music under the guidance of Franco Mezzena and Bruno Mezzena and orchestra conducting with Michele Marvulli e Mario Gusella at the Accademia Musicale Pescarese. He graduated with full marks in Master classes in Conegliano Veneto and Enna (again with Franco Mezzena and Bruno Mezzena); in Fiesole (with Giuseppe Garbarino and Maureen Jones) and in Lerici (with Piero Farulli).

 

He also specialised in the contemporary repertoire for cello under the guidance of Sigfried Palm in the Courses of S.I.M.C. (Italian Society of Contemporary Music) in Rome, playing during the final concert.

 

Andres Rodrigo Lopez founded the E.CO. Ensemble and has collaborated with such important composers as Giovanni Sollima, Salvatore Sciarrino and Marco Tutino, only to name a few.

 

He played as soloist or conductor in several Italian orchestras, such as the Symphony Orchestra of the Accademia Musicale Pescarese, the Orchestra da Camera di Fiesole, Teatro Verdi di Pisa Orchestra, Orchestra da Camera di Milano, the Quartettone, Mediterranean Symphony Orchestra, Filarmonica di Verona, Orchestra Città di Pavia, I.C.O. of Lecce, Antalya State Symphony Orchestra, Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra, Akbank Chamber Orchestra.

 

Andres Rodrigo Lopez was Guest Conductor of the Mediterranean Symphony Orchestra for two years and led the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Festival della Città Barocca in Lecce, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Kishinev and the Orchestra Pablo Ruiz Picasso of Malaga, at the Festival Internacional de Jimena de la Frontera, Istanbul Chamber Orchestra.

He also conducted chamber groups in several performances of the Compagnia di Aldo Giuffré.

Ä°n 2007 has conducted, in Salzburg, the world premiere of "L'ultimo Tango di Madame Ä°vonne", opera by Fausto Tuscano over the Libretto of Raffaella Passiatore.

 

López has been resident conductor at the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet.

 

His concert activity includes recitals as a soloist, concerts with orchestras (both as conductor and soloist) and in collaboration with several chamber groups. He performed in the most important Italian and international concert institutions (Milan, Rome, Pavia, Pistoia, Alessandria, Siena, Pisa, Florence, Bari, Lecce, Siena, Pescara, Verona, Frankfurt, Paris, Puteau, New York, Boston, Mexico, Seoul, Sendai-Japan, Istanbul, Antalya, Adana, Salzburg).

 

López taught chamber music at the Conservatory of Trento (Riva del Garda) and hold masterclasses in Italy, Spain, Turkey, and Austria. He has given several master classes at Istanbul Technical University Advanced Music Studies Center (MIAM).

 

López is teaching cello and chamber music at the Marmara University in Istanbul
