Bio

Paolo Rimoldi was born in Italy in 1961. He  studied piano and later composition with I. Danieli and A. Corghi at the Milan Conservatory,  graduating "summa cum laude".

He has been awarded the following prizes:

1983    1st prize at international competition "V. Bucchi" (Rome)

1988    1st prize at international competition "Ville de Bagneux" (F)

1989    selection at Gaudeamus Musik Week (Amsterdam)

1991    selection at ISCM Festival (Zurich)

1993    2 nd prize at international competition of sacred music (Fribourg - CH)

1994    selection at international competition "Nuove Sincronie" (Milan)

1995    2 nd prize at international competition "E. Porrino" (Cagliari - I))

1996    1st prize at "Athenaeum N.A.E." competition (Rome)

2000    1st prize at "L. de Narváez" competition (Granada - E)

 

His composition have been also recommended in several competition like "Irino"  - Tokyo (1991), "Casinos Austria" - Wien (1991), "Guido d'Arezzo" (1991, 1993 and 1996), "C. Togni" -Brescia (1991),  "N.A.E. - Rome (1995), "Wien Modern Masters" (1997).

In 1997 he was selected as a finalist at "The Leonard Bernstein International Composing Competition" - Jerusalem.

 

Paolo Rimoldi compositions have been also played at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, at the "Cantiere internazionale d'arte" in Montepulciano,  at  the Biennale in Venice and in various Italian and European cities and have been broadcast in  Italy, Holland,  Switzerland, Israel  and Poland.

He currently teaches composition at the Milano Conservatory.
