Bio

Italian composer of stage, orchestral, chamber, choral, vocal, piano and electroacoustic works that have been performed throughout Europe; he is also active as a pianist.

Mr. De Rossi Re graduated in composition at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Mauro Bortolotti. Important for his musical formation his meetings with Sylvano Bussotti (Scuola di Fiesole), Salvatore Sciarrino (Corsi di Perfezionamento di Città di Castello) and, more recently, with Luciano Berio.

His music has been performed in many festivals in the Americas, Asia and Europe by numerous prestigious ensembles.

He has been member of the artistic commette of Nuova Consonanza in Rome since 1987. As a jazz pianist, he often partecipates to experimental projects of improvisations with many other soloists: his compositions in this field has been recording.

His most important works are: Biancaneve ovvero il perfido candore, chamber opera (libretto by the composer, 1993); Cesare Lombroso o il corpo come principio morale, azione musicale (libretto by Adriano Vianello, 2001); L’ombra dentro la pietra, ballet music (choreography by Paola Rampone, 1996); Concerto for harp and orchestra (1998); An Imaginary Portrait (il vero antico, il nuovo falso) for ancient orchestra (2000); Slow Dance for accordion and orchestra (2001); Terranera, un viaggetto nel proto-Lazio, radiofilm (text by Valerio Magrelli, 1994); Orti di guerra for tape (text by Edoardo Albinati, 1995); Tre per una, per non dire l’Ernani for soprano, speaker, clarinet and piano (text by Vittorio Sermonti, 2001); Terra trémuit for mixed chorus, tenor and orchestra (1999); Paludes for string quartet (1984); Rappresentatione (Urbs Imaginaria) for 4 soloists, mixed chorus, ancient ensemble, orchestra, tape and live electronics (2003-2004).
